What is Team Tennis?
Team Tennis provides the opportunity to play in organized match play that emphasizes fun and the social benefits of tennis. All are held on Friday Evenings from 6:30pm - 9:30pm once a month. At the beginning of the season, all entries are gathered, and a seeding meeting is held to properly divide up top players into teams to ensure even play and ability on each team (teams are not self organized by players). Everyone outside the top seeds are then divided into teams, generally by random assignment by drawing names out of a hat unless there are specific requests that do not conflict with our intent to keep team abilities fair. There are 2 main divisions to participate in, Normal and Advanced. Advanced is generally USTA levels 3.5 and above. There are 4 teams maximum per level due to the number of courts at the facility.
Each month, one team plays another. This consists of 4 individual matches to make up the meet: 2 Mixed Doubles, 1 Mens Doubles, and 1 Womens Doubles, all 8 game pro-sets. This requires a minimum of 2 women and 2 men per team to be present. Team members self organize and communicate who is available each month and coordinate a roster for that date.
Team Tennis season is November-April and each team compete against one another twice during the season. At the end of the season match scores are totalled to pick a winning team!
